Ranked number 8 in Yachts and Yachting’s top 50 'must do' sailing events, “The Birkett” is contested over 2 all class handicap races around the length of the lake. One on Saturday and one on Sunday. The mass starts followed by a 14 mile course in spectacular scenery and a festival atmosphere, define the event.
Entry is open to monohull dinghies and keelboats less than 25ft 6 inches overall length with a PYN rating below 1340.
As well as the prestigious Birkett Memorial Trophy, there are prizes for the first 10 overall, class prizes for classes with 6 or more entries and prizes for additional specific categories.
N.B. Entries close at Midnight 30th June. Because of organisational demands no entries can be accepted after then.
Leading international supplier of sailing gear and accessories, Magic Marine will:
be at the event to provide additional prizes; and
offer Birkett entrants discounts on Magic Marine products.
Hospitality and Entertainment
The “BEER TENT” makes a welcome return with a Bar and Live Music in a marquee on both Friday and Saturday evenings.
The Clubhouse Bar will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Snacks in the Clubhouse including Cornish pasties, Sausage Rolls on Friday afternoon.
The Shappy Wheels Chip Van from the award winning Shap Chippy will be on site from 7pm on Friday offering Fish, Chips, Sausage, Halloumi, Kids Meals and a selection of sides.
Breakfast Bacon and Vegetarian Sausage Sandwiches as well as Tea and Coffee from 8.00 am on Saturday and 7.00 am on Sunday
The Tea Room wil be open from 9.00 am on Saturday and Sunday
LIz’s Country Kitchen Pizza Box will be on site Saturday, serving freshly made wood fired pizzas.
Abbott Lodge Ice Cream will be available from the Clubhouse all weekend.
Tents & Motorhomes
On site camping for tents and motorhomes is available for the nights of Friday 5th and Saturday 6th.
Availability is limited and pre-booking (online here) is essential.
